Veterinary Consent
A signed veterinary consent form is required before your dog can begin treatment. This allows our hydrotherapists to fully understand your dog’s medical history, condition, behaviour, and any important precautions.
Please remember that your dog may not enter the pool or treadmill during their first visit. This is completely normal. The first session focuses on creating trust, assessing comfort levels, and helping your dog feel safe within the environment.
St Ives and the surrounding Cambridgeshire countryside offer wonderful opportunities for dogs to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. From peaceful riverside walks along the River Great Ouse to exploring local green spaces and countryside paths, there are plenty of places for dogs to exercise, explore, and enjoy quality time with their owners.
Regular activity plays an important role in maintaining a dog’s physical and mental wellbeing. Keeping dogs moving can help support healthy joints, muscle strength, confidence, and overall quality of life.
For dogs recovering from injury, managing a long-term condition, or needing additional support with mobility, hydrotherapy can be a valuable part of their care routine. Whether your dog enjoys long countryside walks around St Ives or simply wants to stay comfortable during everyday activities, we’re here to support their journey with expert, compassionate rehabilitation.
Here are some of the most common questions we receive from dog owners considering hydrotherapy.
Yes, a signed veterinary consent form is required before treatment begins. This helps ensure your dog receives safe and appropriate care based on their medical history and individual needs.
Not every dog naturally enjoys water, and that is completely normal. Our hydrotherapy sessions are introduced gradually, allowing your dog to build confidence and become comfortable without pressure.
Hydrotherapy pools provide a controlled environment with regulated temperature, clean water, and specialist equipment designed specifically for rehabilitation. Natural water sources cannot provide the same level of support, consistency, or safety.
Buoyancy aids provide extra support and allow our hydrotherapists to guide movement safely during rehabilitation. They help dogs exercise correctly while reducing unnecessary strain.
The frequency depends on your dog’s condition, rehabilitation goals, and progress. Your hydrotherapist will discuss a suitable programme based on your dog’s individual requirements.
